Your RoleWorking with our Asian underwriting team you will be responsible to support the further expansion of our Underwriting footprint in one of Echo Re’s most dynamic regional and specialty line portfolios. This role offers a great combination of exposure to P&C underwriting with a diverse regional scope and an informative interaction with our specialty underwriting teams. Your main responsibility is to support the Regional Managers in underwriting and building profitable reinsurance portfolios. This includes tasks related to the underwriting processes as well as the interaction with internal stakeholders and our external business partners. Learning from our experienced underwriting team and getting to k the local markets will support you to develop your profile and will make you prepared to assume underwriting responsibility within our growing underwriting team. Together, we make sure that the learning curve will be steep. You have gained the necessary experience to skip some of the intermediate steps of making you prepared for an exciting career in reinsurance underwriting already? We will be more than happy to get to k you as well.Your Tasks

  • Technically assess treaty accounts / structures using natural catastrophe model results and statistical tools
  • Handling the full process of underwriting and monitoring the existing proportional and non-proportional treaty business within your defined responsibilities
  • Ensure underwriting excellence from technical pricing to contract wording
  • Close cooperation with Pricing Actuaries and Specialty Lines Underwriters
  • Monitoring and optimizing the reinsurance capacity consumption (Risk and Nat Cat)
  • Proactively supporting Regional Managers in executing the underwriting strategy
  • Support cross-functional projects
  • Conduct market research

 Your Profile

  • University degree preferably in Mathematics / Statistics, Science , Economics, Finance or relevant insurance qualifications
  • Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in treaty reinsurance
  • Kledge of the Asian re/insurance market
  • Strong interest in catastrophe insurance and aspiration of career development in treaty underwriting field
  • Ability to manage own workload and to work under pressure, prioritising tasks and meeting tight deadlines
  • High level of commitment, solution-oriented and “can do” attitude
  • Pronounced ability to work both autonomously and in a team
  • Self-motivated in skill developments as well as in identifying problems / opportunities
  • od negotiating skills and assertiveness, particularly when dealing with brokers
  • Proficient and effective kledge of Microsoft Excel; familiarity with SAP BusinessObjects and SICS would be an advantage
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); other languages spoken in Asia would be an advantage
