After a bumper spring and summer for new routes out of Zurich, Geneva and Basel, the budget airline easyJet is expected to add yet more flights to its schedule in Switzerland as we near the end of the year. Here’s what new routes will be taking off this autumn:
Those planning an autumnal getaway this year will be happy to hear that easyJet will soon add even more routes out of Swiss airports. Following the launch of new flights to Manchester and Bourdeux late last year, and five new routes each from Zurich and Basel’s Euro Airport since the spring, three new cities will be served by the airline from this autumn.
This will begin on October 26, when the company will launch a direct service from Zurich to the capital of Kosovo, Pristina. In a statement given to Blick, the airline said it wanted to serve the city, as it “combines historical heritage with vibrant city life”. It is likely that the route will also benefit the 115.000 Kosovar nationals who live in Switzerland.
Unlike most of the other new easyJet services launched this year, the airline is set to have competition, with Chair Airlines and Edelweiss Air already operating the route to Kosovo. With travellers and holidaymakers spoilt for choice when it comes to providers, lower prices could be on the horizon: easyJet noted that prices will start at 45,45 francs per person.
Next, the airline will launch a twice-weekly flight from Geneva to Rennes on October 31. The city, one of the largest in the French province of Brittany, is full to the brim with stunning architecture and mesmerising food. It also serves as an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding region.
Finally, the sights, delights and sounds of Morocco will only be a flight away starting on November 11, when easyJet launches its twice-weekly route between Basel and Tangier. Whether you are exploring the kasbah or the great mosque, delving into the Caves of Hercules or relaxing by the beach, the city is an excellent choice for an autumnal holiday.
