About this role

Org. Setting and Reporting

The International Trade Centre (ITC) mandate is: "Transforming trade. Changing lives." By enabling trade-led economic development, especially in the Global South, ITC enables small businesses to reach their potential and strengthens ecosystems for long-term impact. The Communications and Events Section is responsible for ITC’s website, media relations, speech and op-ed writing, annual reports, social media, audio-visual communication, advocacy campaigns and events, internal communication, technical publications production, graphic design, printing and the library as well as working with trade and development project teams to communicate on the impact of ITC projects.

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Public Information Officer (Digital Communications), the incumbent will be responsible for:

Quality control, technical assistance

  • Test and quality control the functionality of the Content Management System (CMS) based on specifications prepared by supervisor or vendors. Report technical problems to IT staff;
  • Review templates for different content areas within the CMS;
  • Participate in the ongoing testing and make sure all requirements are met;
  • Perform technical approvals within the CMS and synchronization content between servers;
  • Draft specifications for site improvement changes and new modules.

Technical training and support

  • Update and maintain CMS training manual for internal use and keep it up-to-date with changes;
  • Support training of internal users of the CMS and provide first level technical support;
  • Provide best practices to users and share experience between sub sites;

Design implementation

  • Following ITC’s web design and branding guidelines and web graphic elements in existence, implement the usage of graphical site elements (in collaboration with Graphic Designer);
  • Assist the Digital Communications Officer in overseeing the work of design subcontractors and consultants, control quality, and manage information flow between ITC and subcontractors and consultants.

Content upload

  • Upload content on the website in English, French and Spanish;
  • Act as back up to content owners for content upload when other colleagues are unable to upload content themselves
  • Coordinate translation workflow with external consultants and content providers;
  • Upload content to the intranet and other ITC web properties that do not run on a CMS using tools such as JavaScript, HTML, Sharepoint or similar.

Web analytics

  • Generate site statistics site wide, using modern web metrics tools;
  • Analyze statistical trends and assist in advising internal users on best practices that lead to traffic growth.

Administration

  • Support with administrative work related to the website.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Job - Specific Qualification

A technical or vocational certificate in the use of a web content management system is desirable. Relevant training in web content or data management systems is desirable.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years (3 with a university degree) of relevant work experience, including some experience with content or data management systems is required. Note: Candidates having completed a first level university degree may be accepted with three (3) years of relevant experience. Experience with Drupal, Google Analytics and DeepL is desirable.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this job opening, English is required. Either French or Spanish is desirable.

Assessment

Assessment will be undertaken through a comparative analysis of the applications. The assessment may also include a competency-based interview and/or other appropriate evaluation mechanisms.
