Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Team Lead of Performance Measurement Officer of the ASYCUDA Programme, the intern will:
- With specific guidelines, assist in assessing the impact of integrating Apache ECharts on the interactivity, responsiveness, and analytical capacity of ASYPM dashboards;
- Assist in redesigning ASYPM’s UI to optimize user engagement, usability, and performance while ensuring compatibility with the existing ASYCUDA architecture.
To work remotely, the applicant shall have full access to a computer with a modern browser, Office 365 applications, and basic IT security best practices, including the latest Windows updates, a software firewall, and a password manager.
General intern responsibilities include observing UN rules and regulations, providing copies of prepared materials, respecting UN impartiality, maintaining confidentiality, and refraining from conduct that reflects poorly on the organization.
Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme in Computer Science; or
- Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme in Computer Science (minimum bachelor's level).
Interns should be computer literate, have a background in data visualization and software engineering, a keen interest in the work of the United Nations, and the ability to interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds.
Knowledge of software development with Jakarta EE, Java, VueJS, and/or Quarkus is desirable. Familiarity with data analytics, dashboard design, and JavaScript visualization libraries is an asset.
Languages
Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
Assessment and Application
Candidates will be assessed based on their Personal History Profiles (PHP). A complete online application including a Cover Note and Personal History Profile is required. The Cover Note must include the title of the degree, graduation date, a list of IT skills, and an explanation of why the applicant is the best candidate.
