All international trains to and from Switzerland now bookable via SBB app

Jul 9, 2025

Travellers wanting a fast and easy way to book train tickets in Switzerland and beyond will benefit from new features on the SBB app. Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) now allows users to book even more international services, including night trains.

SBB offers tickets for all international routes on its app

One of the hassles of taking the train across Europe is getting all the right tickets for your journey. On more complex routes, travellers have to use multiple sites to book tickets for each section, bogging down the booking process and making it harder to know which provider to visit for compensation should your train be delayed or cancelled.

This is something SBB is hoping to change: since last October, the company has been pushing to add more train services to its mobile app. They announced that, eventually, it would allow travellers to use their mobile phones to book train tickets on all routes to and from Switzerland and neighbouring countries.

Now, the company has confirmed that all international trains to and from Switzerland are now bookable via the SBB app. This means that you no longer have to visit the SBB website or a physical ticket machine or counter to book complex trips abroad. All night train services to and from Swiss cities are also available.

Trains that don't even visit Switzerland can be booked via SBB

In addition, the SBB app will allow you to book tickets for trains that don’t even visit the alpine nation. Frecciarossa trains running between Italy and France, and French high-speed domestic lines (Paris-Lyon-Marseille, etc) are also bookable from early July.

This won’t be the last time the SBB app expands either. From this autumn, the company plans to allow users to book high-speed trains in Spain via the SBB app, on routes between Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia and Seville, among others.
