About this role

We are seeking four highly engaged and qualified Senior Test Engineers (m/f/d) with a strong focus on Hardware Unit and Subsystem Testing to strengthen a cross-functional engineering team located in Rotkreuz. In this high-impact role, you will be the driving force ensuring the quality, robustness, and reliability of complex hardware units and their seamless integration into system-level medical diagnostic analyzers.

We are hiring across four specialized profiles corresponding to our core functional units:

  1. Measurement Chamber

  2. Fluidics Component

  3. Oximetry

  4. HW Unit & Subsystem

General Information
  • Start Date: 16.09.2026 (Latest possible start date: 01.11.2026)

  • Duration: 1 Year (With option for extension)

  • Workplace: Rotkreuz, Switzerland

  • Workload: 100%

  • Home Office: Hybrid model (Minimum 51% onsite presence required)

  • Travel: 0–10%

Shared Tasks & Responsibilities

Regardless of specialization, all candidates will drive core V&V operations across the project lifecycle:

  • Test Development & Execution: Design, prepare, and execute automated test suites, test cases, and test protocols for Verification and Validation (V&V) in strict compliance with medical device regulations (FDA/MDR).

  • Endurance & Reliability Testing: Develop and execute accelerated life testing (ALT), durability, and wear-and-tear tests to ensure long-term hardware reliability under real-world conditions.

  • Fixture Design & Automation: Build and assemble custom test setups, fluidic rigs, and test fixtures using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks), integrating sensors, pumps, and actuators.

  • Scripting & Data Analysis: Write automation scripts in Python to control test rigs, collect data, and analyze complex metrics using statistical methods.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead root cause analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams) for defects, provide feedback for Design for Manufacturability/Assembly (DFM/DFA), and collaborate closely with software, firmware, and systems engineering teams.

  Qualifications & Requirements (Must-Haves)
  • Education: Degree (BSc, MSc, PhD, or HF Apprenticeship) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.

  • Professional Experience: 3 to 10+ years of hands-on experience in hardware testing, mechatronic unit verification, or product development.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Proven track record working in a highly regulated medical device, In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD), or life sciences environment (FDA/MDR).

  • Tool & Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with ALM tools (e.g., Codebeamer, PLM) for requirement traceability, alongside agile tools like Jira.

  • Language Skills: Professional fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory. Fluency or strong working knowledge of German is a distinct advantage.

Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Experience designing custom test fixtures using SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.

  • Practical knowledge in writing Python scripts for test bench automation and test rig control.

  • Demonstrated background in continuous improvement tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, DFM/DFA).

  • Hands-on experience working in a BSL-2 laboratory environment.

Specialized Profile Focus Areas

Please indicate in your application which focus area(s) best align with your background:

1. Focus: Measurement Chamber

  • Evaluate electro-mechanical hardware (currents, voltages, clamping forces) and configure lab instrumentation (encoders, oscilloscopes).

  • Act as the primary point of contact for unit defects within Operations and the BSL-2 lab environment.

2. Focus: Fluidics Component

  • Apply fluid mechanics expertise to evaluate fluidic components (valves, connectors) and specialized measurement equipment.

  • Heavily plan and execute tightness, stress, and endurance testing on fluidic consumables.

3. Focus: Oximetry

  • Perform physical and optical testing on precision hardware, mechanical oscillators, and optics.

  • Evaluate microfluidic chips and safely handle biological sample preparation (e.g., whole blood handling and hematocrit adjustments) within a BSL-2 laboratory setting.

4. Focus: HW Unit & Subsystem Testing

  • Take ownership of Unit Specifications (USP) and lead Configuration & Item Management (tracking CIs and revision statuses).

  • Act as the primary technical bridge during the integration phase, managing critical hardware-software dependencies.
