Production Engineer (m/w/d)
About this role
We are looking for an engaged, quality-minded Production Engineer (m/w/d) to strengthen an international engineering team for our client, a leader in the medical device and in-vitro diagnostics industry based in Rotkreuz.
In this role, you will be part of a global Production Engineering division that proactively designs, optimizes, and maintains production processes and product designs across an international manufacturing network. You will take ownership of Change Control Management (ECR/ECO) for established products, manage small-scale improvement projects, and support the transfer of new product innovations from the pilot phase into commercial manufacturing within a regulated GMP environment.

Tasks & Responsibilities
Technical Change Coordination: Take ownership for planning, coordinating, evaluating, and implementing engineering change requests (ECR/ECO) in close alignment with Product Leaders and Chapter Leads; ensure proactive monitoring and clear communication to guarantee timely closure.
Master Data & Process Documentation: Create, update, and maintain detailed technical specifications, test documentation, work instructions, routing sheets, SAP master data, and Bills of Materials (BOMs); ensure seamless control of design changes entering and exiting production.
New Product Transfer & Prototyping: Accompany development projects from the pilot phase to series manufacturing. Coordinate material requirements and build, test, and repair prototype breadboards/functional models for complex mechatronic systems while providing feedback on Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
Production Line Design & Material Management: Support the design, optimization, and setup of assembly lines and testing processes for complex diagnostic equipment; drive lean manufacturing and continuous improvement process (CIP) initiatives.
Project & Stakeholder Ownership: Manage smaller assigned technical and process harmonization projects, coordinating across cross-functional teams in a global matrix organization (across Switzerland, Germany, and the USA).
Quality & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to quality goals, deadlines, and medical device regulatory standards (GMP) throughout all production engineering activities.
Qualifications & Requirements (Must-Haves)
Education: Technical education/degree (FH) or completed advanced technical training (e.g., Staatlich geprüfter Techniker) in engineering, automation, or a related technical discipline.
Production & Transfer Experience: Hands-on experience transferring new projects into production, designing assembly processes, and building/repairing breadboards or functional models of complex mechatronic systems.
Medical Device & Assembly Background: Initial hands-on professional experience in the assembly, testing, complaint handling, and repair of medical diagnostic instruments or similar regulated mechatronic systems.
Process & Change Management: Proven track record in process coordination, Change Management (ECR/ECO), and stakeholder management, combined with a strong service mindset and proactive problem-solving drive.
- Matrix Collaboration & Languages: Exceptional communication and team skills for collaborating across international sites.
- Professional proficiency in both German and English (spoken and written) is mandatory.
Digital Tool Affinity: High willingness and adaptability to learn new digital tools and thrive in an evolving, agile, and self-driven environment.
Travel Flexibility: Willingness to undertake occasional travel (approx. 10–20%) to international network sites if required.
Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Haves)
ERP System Knowledge: Hands-on experience working with SAP (master data maintenance, BOMs, change management modules).
Hands-on Electronics/Assembly Focus: Direct practical background as an electronics specialist, assembly technician, or technical specialist for diagnostic hardware.
