Wondering which are the best companies to work for in Switzerland in 2026? A study by Handelszeitung has revealed that Rivella has climbed the ranking and now takes top spot.

Handelszeitung reveals 250 best employers in Switzerland

Each year, Handelszeitung, in collaboration with PME and Statista, reveals the 250 best employers in Switzerland.

This year, the business-focused news outlet evaluated data and assessments from 15.000 workers at more than 1.800 companies with at least 200 employees. Survey respondents were asked if they would recommend their own employer to other people, on a scale from 0 (“I would definitely not recommend”) to 10 (“I would definitely recommend”).

These ratings were then combined with the company’s rating from the previous year to produce an overall score out of 10 for each employer.

Rivella takes top spot as Switzerland’s best employer

Rivella, the popular Swiss beverage company, climbed four places from the 2025 ranking and has been named the “Best Employer 2026” by Handelszeitung. The business has recently taken a proactive approach to improving its employer branding, focusing on initiatives to attract potential students and graduates. "It's an ongoing task – and now a crucial part of our corporate strategy,” says Co-CEO Silvan Brauen.

Handelszeitung observes that “good employers today aren't solely defined by salary and benefits, but by a culture where people enjoy working.” Meaningful work has increased in popularity, as two health and social care companies, the Swiss Paraplegic Foundation and the Bühl Foundation, enter the top 10 this year.

Swiss insurance companies Mobiliar and Zurich took second and third places respectively, and this year also saw two international companies, Unilever and Microsoft, enter the top 10. Swiss watchmakers, by comparison, have fallen in popularity. Rolex dropped from eighth place to 23rd and Breitling also fell out of the top 10.
