The city of Zurich has opened a new bike parking facility located at Bahnhof Zurich Stafelhofen. Cyclists will be able to park their bikes in the centre of the city at one of the station’s 800 new bike parking spots.

If you struggle to find someone to lock up your bike in Switzerland's largest city, then you may be in luck. A new bike parking facility has recently been opened in Zurich, not far from the city’s Opera House.

Located at Bahnhof Zurich Stadelhofen, the new bike parking facility offers 800 parking spaces and has direct access to the station. The new Velo-Parkplatz comes as the climate-friendly alternative to public transport is on the rise in the Swiss city. Bicycle traffic in Zurich increased 30 percent between 2015 and 2024, according to the cantonal government.

Zurich continues to improve cycling infrastructure

The new facility is located underneath the “House of the Falcon” (Haus zum Falken), a new station building that took three and a half years to build and was designed by architect Santiago Calatrava.

“With the new Stadelhofen bicycle station, we have reached another milestone in promoting cycling," said councillor Simone Branders (SP), reported by Watson

The Zurich council has been working to make the city more cycle-friendly, including expanding its bike-sharing scheme and building a cycling tunnel under Zurich HB. Zurich, along with Bern, was recognised by the Copenhagenize Index 2025 for its efforts and was named one of the most cycle-friendly cities in the world.
