About this role

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision, guidance and mentoring of the Programme Management Officers, the Intern will support the work of one or two of the following topics, based on the Secretariat’s needs and the interests of the candidate(s):

  • Support the interim secretariat in preparatory work for the convening of the resumed first session of the Plenary of the Panel.
  • Assist with other related tasks as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update stakeholder contact lists.
  • Assist in stakeholder mapping across governments, scientific institutions, civil society organizations, intergovernmental organizations, and other relevant actors.
  • Support outreach to stakeholders to facilitate awareness of and participation in Panel processes, meetings and consultations.
  • Assist in coordinating communications with national focal points, observer organizations, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in organizing stakeholder consultations, webinars, side events and engagement meetings, including managing invitations, tracking participation and following up on communications.
  • Support inclusive engagement by helping to identify opportunities to broaden participation across regions and stakeholder groups.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel and MS Teams, and the use of web-based platforms and relevant software is required. Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.

Additional Information

The intern will help support development of a range of banners and newsletters for Global Framework on Chemicals Secretariat, the Fund and the Special Programme as well as materials to support the resource mobilisation efforts including pitch decks for prospective donors.
