By Jan de Boer

Looking to change jobs in Switzerland? A new study from the career social media platform LinkedIn has revealed the best companies to work for in 2025. Here’s what you need to know:

LinkedIn Top Companies 2025

Along with its list of the most in-demand jobs in Switzerland, every year LinkedIn produces a ranking of the best companies to work for in Switzerland. To do this, the platform gathers data from its users to rate companies through eight crucial factors, which the site argues are imperative for a successful career:

  • Development opportunities: How frequently promotions are offered.
  • Skills growth: Whether employees acquire new skills or certifications during their employment.
  • Company stability: How many people lost their jobs in the last year, and how many workers remained at the company for over three years.
  • External job prospects: How likely employees are to be offered jobs elsewhere.
  • Company affinity: How well-connected staff are with their colleagues.
  • Gender diversity
  • Educational attainment: How well educated the workforce is.
  • Employer relevance: The size of the company compared to others in Switzerland.

Only companies with at least 500 people employed in Switzerland were considered for the ranking. Firms with an annual turnover of over 10 percent of their workforce were also excluded.

Swiss pharmaceutical giants are the country's "best employers"

For 2025, pharmaceutical giant Roche was ranked as the best company to work for in Switzerland. The firm, which has its main base in Basel but also has branches in Zurich and Lucerne, is one of the world’s largest medicine, biotech and therapeutics producers.

Another staple of the Basel economy, pharmaceutical rival Novartis placed second in the ranking. In fact, the study was a great advertisement for the field, with all but one of the top 10 being focused on either pharmaceuticals, medical equipment or biotechnology. The only exception was Procter & Gamble in ninth, an American manufacturer with bases in Geneva and Zurich.

In terms of non-pharmaceutical companies, the best companies were the aforementioned Procter & Gamble, Vevey-based food company Nestlé (11th overall), hospital and healthcare provider Abbott (12th) and the iconic Swiss shoe brand On (13th).
