Veronica Fusaro to represent Switzerland
Switzerland has had quite an exciting couple of years when it comes to Eurovision, after Nemo became the first artist to win for Switzerland in 2024, resulting in the country hosting the 2025 Eurovision in Basel.
Switzerland has now revealed who is set to represent the country at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). Veronica Fusaro, a 28-year-old from the town of Thun, Bern, will take to the Eurovision stage in May, reports Watson.
“Being able to represent Switzerland feels like a great gift of trust,” says Fusaro who wants to use it “to present my music honestly and without pretence.”
Swiss Eurovision song will be revealed on March 11
In 2014, Fusaro took part in the popular TV show The Voice of Switzerland. Her music career continued as she was named the SRF3 Best Talent in 2016 and in 2023 received the city music prize in Thun, the same year that she released her debut album All the Colours of the Sky.
The album made it to number five in the Swiss charts and was followed by her second album, Looking for Connection, released in 2025.
Fusaro is yet to announce which song she will perform in Vienna, Austria, but all will be revealed on March 11. Luckily for any fans who are expats, Fusaro’s songs are only in English so we will be able to sing along!
The 2026 Eurovision Song Contest is being hosted in Vienna, Austria. Semi-finals will be broadcast on SRF 2 on May 12 and May 14. The final will be broadcast live on SRF 1 on May 16.
Five countries have so far announced that they will boycott the ESC this year: Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain. This is to protest Israel's participation in the event admist an ongoing war and humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Switzerland's 2024 entry and winner, Nemo, has also returned their trophy to support the boycott. The Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG), however, has emphasised that Switzerland will participate as planned and that the event should remain politically neutral, reports 20 Minuten.
