Swiss cities expecting first snow of the season

Dust off your snow boots and grab your winter coats, the first snow of the season is expected to reach Swiss cities from Thursday, November 20.
Snow expected across Switzerland on Thursday
Temperatures have been steadily dropping across Switzerland this past week, and now cities and towns in the Swiss lowlands are bracing for the first snowfall of the season. Weather forecaster MeteoSwiss predicts that from Thursday, snow showers mixed with rain will fall across parts of Switzerland with lower elevations.
On Thursday, maximum temperatures will reach around 4 degrees celsius with lows of -4 in some towns. Basel and parts of western Switzerland will see the most snow, and in the mountains the snow line is expected to drop to 400 metres.
How much will it snow?
According to MeteoSwiss, up to five centimetres of snow is expected to fall in areas with lower altitudes. Between five and 10 centimetres is predicted in the Jura mountains and up to 20 centimetres on the northern slopes of the Alps. A level 2 moderate danger warning has been issued by the federal government for Thursday in areas above 600 metres, particularly in southern and western Switzerland.
By Friday, temperatures are expected to remain low, and snow showers could continue in the lowlands with some sunny spells. Heading into the weekend, temperatures will stay chilly and it will mostly remain dry, according to MeteoNews.
