For our client, an international leader in the life sciences sector, based in Basel, we are looking for a Senior Procurement Specialist.
The Senior Procurement Specialist is a strategic role responsible for managing and optimizing procurement processes during high-stakes corporate transitions. This role focuses on Indirect Procurement categories - specifically Technology, Logistics, Professional Services, and MRO - ensuring seamless operational continuity and cost efficiency throughout the carve-out and divestment lifecycle.

Tasks & Responsibilities
Carve-out & Divestment Execution: Supporting procurement activities related to corporate carve-outs, including due diligence, transition planning, and the execution of system/service separations.
Strategic Sourcing: Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers based on quality, cost, and reliability. Conducting market research to stay updated on industry trends.
Vendor & Contract Management: Developing relationships with key vendors, negotiating complex contracts, and overseeing the entire lifecycle of agreements to ensure legal and policy compliance.
Cost Optimization: Analyzing indirect spend categories to identify savings opportunities and implementing strategies to enhance value during and after organizational changes.
Risk Management: Proactively assessing and mitigating risks related to suppliers, contracts, and compliance within the divestment scope.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with IT, Automation, Quality, MRO, Finance, and Legal to ensure procurement activities support broader organizational objectives and carve-out goals.
Reporting & Analytics: Developing performance metrics and providing data-driven insights and recommendations to leadership.
Policy Development: Contributing to the development and implementation of procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS) is ideal.
Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in indirect procurement, with at least 3-5 years specifically focused on Carve-out and Divestment activities.
Technical Proficiency: Extensive knowledge of procurement processes and contract management tools. High proficiency in MS Office Suite and ERP systems.
Specialized Skills: Proven track record in managing procurement aspects of business divestment; strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic project environment.
