easyJet to offer three new direct flights from Geneva

From December onwards, passengers from Geneva will be able to benefit from three brand new destinations, thanks to a new expansion announced by easyJet. The second largest airport in Switzerland will soon offer direct flights to some of the Swiss’ most popular destinations, including a new and exclusive route to the British capital.

New easyJet direct flight between Geneva and Madeira

In a statement given to 20 Minuten on July 6, easyJet announced that it will be expanding its flight operations out of Geneva. It comes just two months after the company confirmed that it would be opening up its budget holiday service in Switzerland, only the second country the scheme has expanded to.

For the first time ever, passengers from west of the Röstigraben will be able to reach the sun-drenched Portuguese island of Madeira directly from Geneva. Landing in the capital Funchal, travellers can take in the stunning old town and 15th-century cathedral, or hot foot it straight to the striking black pebble or sand beaches.

The new year-round flight will leave Geneva at 8.05am every Tuesday and 1.15pm every Saturday from November 7, 2023. The return leg leaves the island at 11.35am on Tuesdays and 4.45pm every Saturday.

Southend to get new direct flight to Switzerland

Next, in what will be good news for the people of Essex, the company will be opening a new route between Geneva and London Southend Airport. The new winter-only service will give those in the Romande an opportunity to experience all the amazing things to do in the British capital, and offer entrepreneurs and workers another way to get between the two business hubs.

The flights will leave for London’s least-used airport - which is situated to the east of the city in Southend-on-Sea - at 9.55am and 6.45pm on Saturdays and 1pm on Wednesdays starting from December 16. Flights return to Switzerland at 2.05pm on Wednesdays and 11.15am and 7.55pm on Saturdays.

Swiss travellers to benefit from direct flight to Lanzarote

Finally, easyJet will offer a seasonal direct flight from Geneva to the volcanic island of Lanzarote. With its wild nature, nice hiking trails and good surf, the Spanish island is often called the Hawaii of the Atlantic. From November 4, flights will leave for Lanzarote from Geneva at the espresso-requiring time of 6.15am on Saturdays and 8am on Tuesdays. The return leg takes off at 10.05am on Saturdays and 11.40am on Tuesdays.
