Weltklasse Zurich is an annual athletics event with global appeal. After all, the word weltklasse in the title means world-class! The 2023 edition of Weltklasse Zurich takes place over two days at two different locations in the city of Zurich.

Weltklasse Zurich - the final of the Diamond League

The event is one of the largest invitation-only track and field events on the planet. Weltklasse Zurich is one of the 11 Diamond League events that take place all over the world, serving as the final of the whole league. The other Diamond League events take place in  Lausanne, Birmingham, Doha, Rome, Oslo, Stockholm, Silesia, Monaco, London, Shanghai, Shenzen, Eugene, Paris, Brussels and Rabat.

Here's an overview of the schedule:

Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Sechseläutenplatz 

  • 4.30pm: Pre-programme
  • 5pm: Start of main programme
  • 5.30pm: Start TV broadcast
  • 7.30pm: End of event

The competitions taking place on Wednesday are the 5.000m Women, 5.000m Men, High Jump Women, Long Jump Women, Long Jump Men, Shot Put Women and Shot Put Men.

Thursday, August 31, 2023 at Letzigrund Stadium

  • 6pm: Pre-programme
  • 7pm: Start TV broadcast & main programme
  • 10pm: Diamond Trophy Ceremony & Closing Ceremony
  • 10.15pm: End of event 

The competitions timetabled for Thursday are the High Jump Men, as well as the following, with separate events each for men and women: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500, 100m Hurdles, 400m Hurdles, 3.000m Steeple, Pole Vault, Triple Jump, Discus and Javelin Throw.
