The multi-talented Michelle Buteau is known for starring in the Netflix comedy series Survival of the Thickest, of which she was also the creator and executive producer. The series acts as an adaptation of her autobiographical book of essays of the same name.

It was released in 2023 and returned for its second season in 2026. Buteau received the 55th NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Creative (Television) for the series. Buteau is also the host of the hit Netflix reality competition show, The Circle.

About Michelle Buteau

Michelle Buteau is an actor, comedian, producer and writer. She was born in New Jersey to a Haitian father and a Jamaican mother.

Michelle started her career as a TV news producer, venturing into comedy in 2001. After five years of making a name for herself in comedy, she landed herself a television spot on Comedy Central. She has two Netflix specials to her name. Her first Netflix special, Welcome to Buteaupia, won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Comedy Special. In June 2024, Buteau recorded her stand-up show A Buteau-ful Mind live at Radio City Music Hall, becoming the first woman to record a Netflix special at the famous hall.
