New self-service check-in and bag drop services at Basel EuroAirport
Basel EuroAirport, the third-largest airport in Switzerland, has launched new self-service check-in and bag-drop facilities for passengers travelling with certain airlines.
The move marks an “important step towards modern and efficient passenger handling” through introducing a self-service check-in option and self-bag drop machines (SBD), according to an airport press release.
People travelling for work or on holiday will be able to check in without a member of staff via a kiosk. Passengers can print their own boarding pass, baggage tag and drop their luggage at a self-service bag drop machine. The offering is currently available to passengers travelling with EasyJet and will soon expand to Wizz Air and other airlines, reports Watson.
Basel EuroAirport focuses on passenger experience
Basel EuroAirport has added 24 self-service check-in kiosks and 14 self-service bag drop machines to halls two and four in the departures area. Hall three is currently closed and will reopen at the end of May 2026 with additional kiosks and machines.
The new services aim “to make the check-in process more efficient and independent for passengers” as part of a move to focus on passenger experience. The airport also hopes that the offering will “reduce waiting times, simplify processes and increase travel comfort, especially during peak hours.”
