Signal Processing Lead - Principal Engineer

As Signal Processing Lead you will be leading one of the 4 key pillars of our multidisciplinary team. You will define the next generation high throughput data processing architectures needed for 3D imaging, set the performance bar for the signal processing and image reconstruction team, help develop the culture of the team and the company. On a daily basis, you will have the opportunity to play a multi faceted role covering both management aspects as well as hands on implementation: lead the architecture definition process, iterate on the initial implementations, help build a best in class software and signal processing team from the ground up, mentor the more junior hires, collaborate with the circuit design, underlying integration technology and application/system leads.Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development of the signal processing and image reconstruction software - in collaboration with our photonics and mixed signal engineers, define our module level data processing systems including architecture, optimal hardware choices, image reconstruction software development
  • Design, implement, and simulate the system level functionality and performance of our modules
  • Craft module level plans to optimize the overall performance; supervise board layout activities, programming of processing cores and programable logic devices; give concise guidelines to engineers, as well as be hands on if necessary;
  • Develop testing plans and work with product and test engineers to characterize the functionality and performance of the products to ensure quality;
  • Create team’s design methodologies and release flows.
  • Identify, hire and mentor junior software and signal processing engineers
  • Work with customers to develop specifications for the data interface


  • Proficient with essential simulation and software tools, such as Matlab, Python, C++ etc.
  • Prior experience in image reconstruction in general and 3D imaging sensors technologies and ranging techniques in particular, including LiDAR, Radar and Sonar based ranging; experience in FMCW techniques a plus;
  • Thorough understanding of light detection and ranging physics, parameters trade offs and impact of architectural choices on system performance;
  • Understanding of integrated optoelectronic imaging device physics is desirable
  • Collaborative in a multi disciplinary startup environment, ability to work both with local and remote team members
  • Capable of coaching and mentoring new or junior circuit designers and layout engineers;
  • Independent, analytical thinker, comfortable in a frontier technology environment,
  • Self-motivated,
  • Top tier M.S. program in E.E. with 14+ years’ experience, preferably top tier Ph.D. in E.E. with 12+ years’ experience
