About the job:

The BGE Sensors & Reagents team is at the forefront of IVD (In Vitro Diagnostics) innovation. They develop, characterize, and optimize electrochemical sensors and system reagents for medical devices, specifically focusing on blood gas, electrolyte, and metabolite measurements in whole blood.

The Reagents team is responsible for the entire lifecycle of calibrators, controls, and internal solutions required for BGE instruments. They are a multidisciplinary group of experts in analytical method development, chemistry, material science, and reagent production, working collaboratively to bridge the gap between R&D, operations and clinical application.

The Perfect Candidate:

We are seeking a motivated Lab Specialist to join the team in Rotkreuz. This is a 100% laboratory-based role in a multidisciplinary environment. You will be responsible for the hands-on preparation and testing of chemical solutions, ensuring our R&D production lots meet the highest quality standards.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Lot Production & Execution: Take accountability for R&D BGE Lab Lot production, including the planning, preparation, and implementation of reagent batches.
  • Testing & Analysis: Perform rigorous testing of formulations and raw materials to ensure consistency and performance.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain precise documentation of the experiments and lab lots and communicate progress effectively to project and line managers.
  • Laboratory Management: Support daily lab operations, including inventory management for consumables and the maintenance/servicing of laboratory infrastructure.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in establishing new raw materials and refining methods for manufacturing, testing, and packaging.
  • Presentation: Prepare and present technical data and test designs to the wider R&D team.

Must Haves:

  • Completed an apprenticeship as a Laboratory Technician specializing in Chemistry or, Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Life Sciences (Chemistry or related field) ( Master and PhD - not accepted)
  • Strong fundamental knowledge of inorganic and/or organic chemistry with hands-on skills in solution preparation - immediate graduates are ok
  • Proven experience in the analysis of chemicals (analytical balance readings- pippette) and complex chemical solutions(Calibrator solutions) - will be learning
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) is essential for our international environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to network across R&D, Operations, and Quality Control teams.

Nice to Haves:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience as a Lab Technician in a regulated environment.
  • Proficiency in German is an advantage.
