About this role

For our client, a leading international company based in Rotkreuz, we are looking for a visionary and technically-minded Hardware Product Owner to join the Instrument Development team. In this role, you will bridge the gap between product strategy and technical execution, serving as the architect of "the what and the why" for life-changing physical medical devices.

General Information:

  • Start Date: ASAP (at the latest 01.05.2026)

  • Duration: 1 year (initial contract with extension likely)

  • Workplace: Rotkreuz

  • Workload: 100%

  • Remote/Home-Office: 1 day per week (20%) possible

  • Travel: Up to 10% (occasional site visits to Germany)

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Vision: In close collaboration with Product Management, define the vision for components and systems, ensuring the agile team fully grasps the product's purpose and impact.

  • Requirements Engineering: Translate high-level business needs into actionable, technical User Stories, clearly defining the "what" for the engineering team.

  • Backlog Orchestration: Take full ownership of the Team Backlog. Lead the prioritization and estimation of work packages to ensure a steady, high-value flow of development.

  • Scope & Quality Governance: Oversee prioritization during all stages of product creation, ensuring all deliverables align strictly with the Definition of Done (DoD) and regulatory requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Navigate the complexities of a team comprising Mechanical, Electrical, Software, and Firmware engineers to ensure a cohesive physical product.

Qualifications (Must Haves):

  • Education: Degree (BSc/MSc) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • Professional Experience: Proven track record as a Product Owner or Project Lead within a hardware-centric environment, ideally in a regulated industry (MedTech/Healthcare).

  • Systems Engineering Expertise: Deep understanding of physical product development constraints, including tooling, Bill of Materials (BOM), and lead times versus software cycles.

  • Agile Proficiency: Solid experience with Agile frameworks (SAFe, Scrum, or Kanban) applied within complex engineering contexts.

  • IT Toolkit: Proficiency with Azure DevOps, SAP, and modern collaboration tools (Google Suite).

  • Languages: Fluency in English and German (written and spoken) is mandatory.

  • Soft Skills: Exceptional negotiation skills to protect team focus and a natural ability to bridge the communication gap between technical R&D teams and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to Haves:

  • Industry Context: Previous experience navigating the specific quality and safety standards of the Healthcare/Diagnostics sector.

  • Technical Tools: Familiarity with MCAD environments or large-scale automation systems.

  • Mindset: A proactive leader who thrives on solving systemic challenges and can translate abstract goals into concrete engineering milestones.
