Along with providing listeners with tailor-made playlists and radio stations to enjoy, the annual Wrapped playlists from Spotify also give us a great insight into what sort of music people in Swiss cities and cantons like to listen to. In 2022, it was clear that people in Switzerland were fans of listening to imports from abroad, as none of the top 10 tracks of the year came from Swiss artists.

No Swiss artists in the Spotify Top Tracks playlist for Switzerland

Sadly, not a single Swiss artist or producer featured on the Top Tracks list for Switzerland in 2022. Instead, people in the alpine nation preferred to listen to artists from America, the UK and Germany.

In keeping with the tradition of Swiss music taste being a little delayed compared to the rest of Europe, the top streamed song in 2022 was from 2020: Heat Waves by British band Glass Animals. According to Genius, the song is about remaining strong through vulnerable moments in life and embracing that vulnerability.

Classic songs from the noughties and nineties still popular in Switzerland

Another interesting song in the top 10 came in at number six, with Another Love by Tom Odell bouncing back onto the charts after last featuring in 2012. The song’s “phoenix moment” has been attributed to its popularity on Tik Tok in August, which meant it placed fifth on the official Swiss charts in December 2022. Other older songs on the chart this year include Can’t Hold Us by Macklemore, Without Me by Eminem and Gangsta’s Paradise by Coolio.

Despite not having much luck on the top track list, one (arguably) Swiss artist was selected as one of the top music makers in 2022. RAF Camora, who was born in Switzerland, was placed fifth on the list for his song Blaues Licht (Blue light) and his feature on Bonez MC’s track Letztes Mal (Last Time). However, despite being born in Vevey, Canton Vaud, he considers himself an Austrian rapper.
