2025 was the year that put Switzerland in the spotlight as the UEFA Women’s EURO and Eurovision Song Contest hosts. But what else was on the minds of people living in the alpine nation? Let’s take a look at Switzerland's Google search history.

What were the 2025 Google Trends in Switzerland?

Global events were top of many people’s minds this year, as evidenced by Google Trends in the country. Charlie Kirk was the most Googled term in Switzerland this year after his assassination in the US in September 2025.

The second most searched term was Blatten, a town in the canton of Valais that was affected by a landslide in May. Lastly, Israel-Iran came in as the third most searched term in Switzerland

New Defence Minister Martin Pfister topped the list of most-searched people in Switzerland. This was followed by Swiss comedian Hazel Brugger and Swiss motorcyclist Noah Dettwiler, who was involved in a serious accident at the Malaysian Grand Prix in October.

Most googled questions in Switzerland

The population of Switzerland remained a curious bunch, with the most googled questions showing quite the variety.

Questions asked ranged from relating to global events like “Why is Los Angeles on fire?” and “Why is Israel attacking Iran?” to football-related “Why is Cucurella being booed?” and “Why isn’t Alisha Lehmann playing in the European Championship?”

The country also showed its love of nature with questions like “How many hearts does an octopus have?”, “How many cows are there in Switzerland?” and “How many toes does a giraffe have?” And of course, the question on all of our minds: “What does 6-7 mean?”
