Driving tourism has once again come under scrutiny in Switzerland after a driver posted a video of his Ferrari reaching speeds of 210 kilometres per hour (km/h) on the Susten Pass. The stunt comes just a week after a British YouTuber was also caught driving recklessly. Cantonal police have launched investigations into both incidents.

Viral Susten Pass stunt prompts Bern police probe

Switzerland attracts driving enthusiasts from all across Europe who flock to popular mountain roads like the Susten, Furka and Grimsel passes to enjoy some "twisties" with a spectacular view.

While the majority of visitors and residents respect local speed limits and laws, there are inevitably a few who give driving tourists a bad reputation.

A driver from Tbilisi, Georgia, known as "sabba_mik" on Instagram, recently posted a video showing his Ferrari SF90 XX speedometer reaching up to 210 km/h as he hurtled down the Susten Pass.

The speed limit on the Susten Pass is 80 km/h, and anyone caught breaking this could face anything from a warning to a hefty fine, disqualification from driving, vehicle seizure or prison, depending on the severity.

Cantonal police in Bern have confirmed to 20 Minuten that "they are aware of the video" and have now "launched an investigation."

British YouTuber and supercar convoy pulled over in Uri

Just a week or so earlier, British YouTuber "Jay P" was also caught by Swiss police after a video posted online showed around 20 supercars speeding through Swiss mountain passes, reportedly breaking the speed limit and "driving recklessly," according to 20 Minuten.

The group were seen to be stopped by police, who pointed out the car’s smoking brakes and said they were "driving like a maniac".

Uri cantonal police confirmed the incident took place and that while "the drivers were warned" on the day, a further investigation has now been launched.
