Summary

Role Purpose:
We are looking for a temporary associate to join the Analytical Characterization (AC) team in Basel, Switzerland. AC supports Novartis’ new biological entities (NBEs) development from proof-of-concept in human (i.e., finalization of the first phase I clinical trial) to commercialization and life-cycle management activities. AC applies a wide range of analytical techniques to characterize biopharmaceutical products. The AC team belongs to the Analytical Development unit, which is part of Novartis Technical Research and Development (TRD).

As part of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) laboratory team within AC, the successful applicant will provide analytical support for NBE development by using state-of-the-art biophysical techniques to elucidate binding affinity and kinetics of the active pharmaceutical ingredient to its biological target and to immune receptors. The applicant will work in a highly collaborative and scientific environment, in close interaction with other experts in the analytical community.

About the Role

Accountabilities include

  • plan and perform analytical protein characterization by using SPR
  • develop new SPR methods and apply established methods
  • evaluate and document results accurately and in consistent quality
  • support the technical organization of the laboratory

Minimum requirements

  • B.Sc./M.Sc. with specialization in biochemistry, biophysics, or analytical chemistry
  • Preferably prior experience in surface plasmon resonance
  • Experience in working with proteins is considered an asset
  • Your strengths include critical and objective interpretation of results and scientific information.
  • Applicants should have good organizational and team skills, and good knowledge of English and MS Office software.
