Join our Biomedical Research team in Basel, Switzerland, for an internship in Global Discovery Chemistry—where we design and create new molecules to treat patients across key disease areas including Oncology, Cardiovascular, Metabolic and Renal, Immunology, and Neuroscience.
As part of Novartis’ innovation engine, you’ll work alongside a diverse and motivated team of medicinal, synthetic, and analytical chemists, driving and supporting cutting‑edge drug discovery projects. This internship offers a unique opportunity to apply your knowledge in synthetic or analytical chemistry, gain hands‑on experience, and grow under the guidance of expert scientists.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently perform experiments, evaluate data, and generate reports
- Contribute to the design and optimization of experiments
- Implement innovative technologies to contribute to cutting‑edge research projects using your practical scientific expertise as well as guidance from senior experts
Essential Requirements
- Education: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in a chemistry‑related field, seeking an internship as part of your academic curriculum.
- Languages: Good communication skills in English (spoken and written); German is a plus.
- Lab experience: Independent lab work in chemistry, including planning and executing experiments; solid knowledge of organic and analytical techniques.
- Technical interests: Passion for developing and refining synthetic experimental methods.
- Team & Mindset: Collaborative team player with a proactive, positive attitude and enthusiasm for learning, problem‑solving, and innovation.
