Communications and Event Coordination Expert
About this role
The expected outputs of the assignment are the following: Submission of 7 SETs of deliverables, which include: 7 press releases / news articles with photos/video, 7 social media posts; 7 media monitoring reports; and 7 consolidated reports on project logistics and support activities coordinated.
Background
The International Trade Centre (ITC) is a joint agency of the United Nations (UN) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). It is fully dedicated to supporting the internationalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It has a mission to foster inclusive and sustainable growth and development through trade and international business development. ITC, in partnership with FAO and WFP, is implementing the South Sudan – Green and Resilient Agriculture and Climate Economy (GRACE). The project has an overall goal of promoting green, sustainable, and climate-resilient economic development by contributing to increased food and nutrition security, resilience to shocks, and job creation in South Sudan.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Project Manager, the consultant will perform the following tasks:
Communications and Visibility:
- Plan and implement project visibility and communications strategies, by regularly monitoring project activities and events.
- Develop and disseminate high-quality project communication and visibility materials (press releases, success stories, newsletters, social media posts and brochures).
- Undertake photography and filming of project events and beneficiaries.
- Build strong relationships with media outlets to maximize press coverage.
- Plan and organise radio talk shows and interviews for project beneficiaries and partners.
- Serve as local focal person for project communications and visibility activities.
- Conduct media monitoring and compile news outlet lists.
Event Coordination and Management:
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate logistics and support services for project events (workshops, conferences, webinars).
- Facilitate and coordinate invitations for project events and registration of participants.
- Plan and coordinate the deployment of ITC field vehicle and rental vehicles.
- Participate in monthly progress update meetings.
Qualifications/special skills
A candidate with a university first degree in communications, mass media, journalism, public and business relations, public management, or related field. Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. The candidate should have at least 2 years’ experience in communications and/or journalism related areas. Proven experience in coordination of programme events would be an asset.
Languages
Advanced knowledge of English is required.
