Finance Operations Specialist (New York, NY)

Glencore is a natural resource energy trading company. Our back office supports our US trading and operations staff.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform core settlement functionality for the trading business, reviewing and validating costs associated with payables and receivables entered by front office.
  • Ensure payments are executed and received in a timely fashion.
  • Work with internal trading desks to resolve pricing and operational discrepancies.
  • Assist treasury functions with timely cash application.
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable balances and communicate with trading desks regarding payment status
  • Prepare and reconcile overdue receivable reports for trading desks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and other job-related duties as assigned
  • Participate in special projects impacting Finance Department.

Position Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in accounting, finance, accounts receivable, collections, or a similar role.
  • Problem Solving – Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information skillfully, and maintain confidentiality
  • Consistent ownership of assigned work.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Communication – Must display strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Judgment – Exhibit extremely sound judgment in response to sensitive situations or materials. Display loyalty and integrity in all situations.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and professional demeanor

Compensation:

  • This position can expect between $60K-80K annual salary, plus medical, retirement, and insurance benefits. It may be eligible for a discretionary performance bonus.
