Senior SAP Basis Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior SAP Basis Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the performance, stability, and security of complex SAP landscapes. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support strategic initiatives, system enhancements, and continuous improvements that align IT capabilities with business goals.

This is a fully remote position, ideal for someone who thrives in an independent, flexible work environment while maintaining strong communication and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain SAP environments, including S/4HANA, ECC, BW, Solution Manager, and related components.

• Perform installations, upgrades, patches, and system migrations across on-premise and cloud environments (Azure).

• Monitor and optimize system performance; troubleshoot critical incidents to ensure reliability and stability.

• Support backup and disaster recovery procedures for SAP landscapes.

• Collaborate with development, functional, and infrastructure teams to deliver enhancements, implementations, and ongoing maintenance.

• Analyze and respond to business requirements to ensure alignment with IT capabilities and future system evolution.

• Plan and coordinate SAP system upgrades, releases, and project activities.

• Drive continuous improvement by identifying optimization and automation opportunities.

• Prepare and maintain technical documentation for SAP systems and processes.

• Ensure adherence to company standards, policies, and security best practices.

• Conduct technology scouting, run proof-of-concept initiatives, propose new solutions, liaise with vendors, and contribute to defining global SAP infrastructure standards.

• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members when needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in SAP Basis administration.

• Strong proficiency with SAP architecture, including S/4HANA, ECC, and BW.

• Experience with SAP migrations and upgrades, including cloud migrations (Azure).

• Expertise in database administration (HANA, Oracle, and/or SQL Server).

• Strong understanding of SAP security and role-based access control.

• Experience with system monitoring tools such as SAP Solution Manager, EarlyWatch Alerts, and other monitoring platforms.

• Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with strong attention to detail.

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities, especially in remote environments.

• Fluent in Business English.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in Agile environments.

• Familiarity with ITIL processes and framework.

• SAP Basis or HANA administration certifications (a strong plus).
