Head of Warehouse & Logistics

For our client, an international pharmaceutical company based in Stein (AG), we are looking for an experienced and visionary Head of Warehouse & Logistics.
This role is accountable for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the warehouse. You will be the key driver in transitioning the site toward a state-of-the-art SAP-EWM environment while ensuring that daily production logistics for aseptic filling remain seamless and audit-ready.

Start: Immediate / By agreement
Duration: Initial contract until 22.08.2026 (6 months) with extension options
Workplace: Stein (AG)
Workload: 100%
Presence: 4–5 days per week on-site (due to operational nature of the role)
Tasks & Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership & Strategy
Operational Management: Oversee all warehousing and material management activities, including receiving, storage, and material allocation (disposition, consumption, and booking) to support aseptic manufacturing.
Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and coach a team of approximately 8 Logistics Operators and 1 Logistics Expert, handling recruitment and disciplinary actions.
Compliance & Audits: Act as the primary representative for the warehouse during Swissmedic and other regulatory inspections, as well as customer audits.
Growth Projects: Ensure the facility achieves and maintains the Swissmedic License for logistics processes, equipment, and systems within the DPS growth projects.
Logistics & Project Management
SAP EWM Implementation: Serve as the Business Project Leader for the local site during the EWM IT project, driving process optimization to ensure digital readiness.
Capital Expenditure (CAPEX): Represent Operations in investment projects, providing expertise on design, operational takeover, and SME support during audits.
Process Excellence: Drive efficiency in inbound/outbound logistics, cold chain management, and delegated sampling (including open material handling).
Stakeholder Management: Orchestrate communication between Site Management, Global Engineering, and Manufacturing to align logistics with overall site goals.
Qualifications:
Experience: Proven track record in GxP / Pharmaceutical logistics within a manufacturing environment (specifically Aseptic/Drug Product Services is highly preferred).
Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading small-to-mid-sized teams with a focus on coaching and qualification.
Technical Proficiency: Strong SAP knowledge is required; experience with SAP-EWM implementations is a significant advantage.
Quality Standards: Deep understanding of GMP standards, SHE (Safety, Health, and Environment) risk analysis, and SOP preparation.
Languages: Fluent German (essential for team communication) and Professional English (mandatory for documentation, QA compliance, and global project work).
