The latest large-scale survey from Service Value has revealed the best employers in Switzerland for 2024. The ranking saw a Swiss watchmaker come out top, thanks to its good reputation with workers and the public at large.

Best Employers in Switzerland 2024

To create the “Best Employers in Switzerland” list, Service Value analysed 805 local companies to see which are the highest regarded - international companies with their headquarters abroad were not part of the study. This was done by using a mixture of over 296.000 public reviews and impressions, and a survey of current and former employees and those with direct contact with each company.

Writing in the report, Service Value director Claus Dethloff said "In addition to attractive pay and employee-friendly working hours," the best employers offer "individual training opportunities and an appreciative corporate culture." Each company was then given a score of 100. Firms with scores over 83 were given the top accolade as a “very highly attractive” employer.

Best Swiss companies able to attract both local and expat workers

"Although Switzerland attracts many foreign workers, employers should also compete nationally in order to retain the best employees and recruit promising new recruits," Dethloff continued. He argued that amid significant worker shortages, employers should do everything they can to improve their offerings to coax more staff to join.

In all, 122 companies were given the highest honour by Service Value, ranging from Swiss banks and insurance providers to healthcare and retail firms.

Tissot named the best employer in Switzerland for 2024

For 2024, the Tissot was rated as the best employer in Switzerland with a perfect score of 100. The 171-year-old watch brand from Le Locle in Neuchâtel is perhaps best known for being the first to use materials like plastic, granite and wood in their watch designs. Hälg Group, a housing and building technology company from St. Gallen, took second place.

The rest of the top 10 was a vibrant mixture of top Swiss brands and lesser-known firms. Schneider Electric and sports and shoe retailer Dosenbach-Ochnser rounded out the top four - in a sign that being well-regarded by your staff is an advantage, the latter was recently rated as offering the best customer service in Switzerland.

10 best Swiss employers revealed

In all, here are the 10 best employers in Switzerland, according to Service Value:

  1. Tissot, watchmaker
  2. Hälg Group, building technology
  3. Schneider Electric, energy
