32,6 million people travelled through Zurich Airport in 2025
Zurich Airport has set a new record for the highest number of passengers travelling through the airport in Switzerland. In 2025, 32,6 million visitors flew through Switzerland’s largest airport, a 4,5 percent increase (over one million more passengers) compared to 2024, reports SRF.
Passenger numbers fell dramatically in 2020 when just 8,3 million people travelled through the airport. Numbers have been slowly returning to pre-pandemic levels between 2021 and 2024, and in 2025 passenger numbers exceeded levels reported in 2019 (31,5 million passengers).
Zurich air traffic not yet at pre-pandemic levels
Zurich Airport also reported on air traffic in 2025, which has “not quite reached pre-crisis levels”. Last year, 270.116 takeoffs and landings were recorded, an increase of 3,5 percent year-on-year. However, when compared to 2019, the numbers are around 2 percent lower.
According to the airport, passenger numbers have increased more than air traffic due to bigger planes with higher seat occupancy. The airport also recorded 635.8 million Swiss francs in commercial revenue, a 0,9 percent increase compared to 2024, driven mostly by airside shopping.
