Zurich Pride Festival has been cancelled for 2026 due to concept revisions and funding cuts, but the demonstration will still take place on Saturday, June 20.
Zurich Pride Festival to return in 2027
The annual Pride Festival in Zurich has been cancelled for 2026 following a vote by the Zurich Pride Association board and members, reports Blick. The festival will not take place this year due to “concept revisions” and several companies reducing their sponsorships. It is set to return again in 2027.
The Zurich Pride Demonstration 2026 will still take place on Saturday, June 20, where the LGBTQ+ community and allies take part in a political march to raise awareness for LGBTQ+ rights. Typically, the demonstration is accompanied by parties, live music and food, but this aspect will not take place this year.
Other Swiss cities still set to host pride festivals
The Pride Association board and members voted in favour of a motion that stated the "team should have time to plan and breathe in order to create a Pride event that reflects the new values and that the team is truly passionate about.”
“Several large companies have recently reduced or completely withdrawn their sponsorship of Pride events in Zurich and other cities,” according to Watson. The Zurich Pride Association had previously discussed introducing a paid ticketing system for the festival, however this has not yet been confirmed.
The Zurich Pride Festival was attended by tens of thousands of people in 2025, according to Blue News. Other Pride events are still taking place throughout Pride month in June 2026, including in the Swiss cities of Bern, Lausanne and Basel.
