Geneva named one of the top travel destinations for 2024 by New York Times

The Swiss city of Geneva has been named one of the "places to go" in 2024 by none other than the New York Times. From the lake and old town to the cathedral and CERN, it’s easy to see why!

Geneva named one of the places to go in 2024 by NYT

Need some inspiration for your next holiday? The New York Times may have the primer you need with its 52 Places to Go list for 2024. It’s quite the eclectic mix, with vibrant Singapore and historic Vienna being joined by the likes of Baltimore, Dominica, the Albanian Alps, Dresden, Almaty and Manchester.

However, taking its place among the stunning beach destinations, hidden escapes and city retreats was Geneva. In the piece, the city was recommended because of its architecture, food, history and institutions. “Satisfy your curiosity about quantum physics, and your cravings for chocolate,” the description read.

CERN museum and Geneva chocolate tours given high praise

Specifically, the NYT gave high praise to the child-friendly “Science Gateway” opened by the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) last year, a museum which the newspaper says gives adults and kids alike a chance to “nerd out” and learn about all the groundbreaking discoveries found thanks to CERN's large hadron collider.

Another highlight was the “Choco Pass” - a self-guided tour of Geneva’s best places for indulgent Swiss chocolate. Finally, the New York Times recommended booking a table at the Breitling Kitchen to experience what would happen if a Swiss watchmaker decided to try their hand at the restaurant trade - the results? Quite palatable.
