It’s officially summertime, meaning it’s time to head to the beach! While Switzerland is a landlocked country best known for its majestic mountains, there is no shortage of incredible beaches bordering lakes that are a delight to visit in the summer when the weather is fine.

There are many gorgeous lake beaches in Switzerland, but here are just a few of our favourites.

1. Strandbad Tiefenbrunnen, Zurich

Strandbad Tiefenbrunnen is a unique beach in Zurich with a view of the city's skyline in the background. This sandy beach is the perfect place to take a relaxing break after a day at work. Dip in the lake, hop off a diving board, or recline on a towel under the sun before heading back to the city.

2. Lido di Lugano, Lugano

Coined one of the most beautiful beaches in Switzerland, the Lido di Lugano beach really looks like something out of a painting. The turquoise bay glimmers under the sun, and the picturesque mountains act as the perfect backdrop, giving the area a very seaside-like feel. When you've had enough of the water and relaxing on the sandy beach front, you can head to the volleyball courts or football fields for a game.

One of the most unique places in Switzerland is Pointe de la Jonction, the place where the green waters of the River Rhône meet the grey waters of the River Arve, creating an astonishing natural spectacle as they swirl and mix.
