About this role
The candidate should preferably be based in Switzerland, but if there is an excellent cross-border candidate, they would need to work as an independent freelancer rather than as your employee, due to the nature of our contractual arrangement with the client.
For an upcoming project at Universitätsspital Zürich (USZ), we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the implementation of an interim Laboratory Information System (IntLIS) for Pathology and Dermatopathology, while simultaneously acting as IT Sub-Project Lead for the parallel Digital Pathology (DigPath) initiative.

Key Assignment Details
- Start: Ideally October 2026 (earlier availability preferred)
- Duration: Until September 2027
- Workload: Approx. 75% during rollout phase till end of March 2027, decreasing to 30–50% afterwards (till September 2027)
- Location: Hybrid, with regular on-site presence at USZ Zurich required
- Languages: Fluent German and English (written and spoken)

We are specifically looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience as Senior Project Manager in complex IT implementation programs involving multiple stakeholders, suppliers and system integrations.
- At least 2 comparable projects where they were responsible for planning, implementation, testing, go-live and stabilization.
- Strong supplier/vendor management experience, including:
- managing contractual scope and deliverables,
- driving suppliers to agreed deadlines and quality standards,
- handling escalations,
- acceptance management,
- tracking deviations and risks.
- Ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and coordinate business, technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Experience with agile delivery approaches (SAFe is a plus).
- Fluent German and English.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:
- Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), pathology or diagnostics environments.
- Healthcare IT implementations.
- Clinical systems and integrations such as:
- SAP IS-H
- KISIM
- HL7
- DICOM
- Swiss healthcare environment.
- TARDOC/OAAT billing and tariff processes.
- Epic/Beaker-related programs or interim system implementations.
The selected consultant will:
- Lead the end-to-end rollout of the interim pathology LIS.
- Manage planning, governance, scope, risks, resources and reporting.
- Coordinate migration, interfaces, testing, training, cutover and hypercare.
- Actively manage and challenge the software vendor to ensure contractual delivery and quality.
- Lead IT workstreams within the Digital Pathology project and coordinate dependencies between both programs.
- Drive stakeholder alignment across pathology, laboratory IT, integration, infrastructure, SAP, KISIM and other affected areas.
