Trade Finance Assistant
About this role
A leading multinational company in the trading and finance sector is looking for a Trade Finance Assistant for its Banking team, based in Lugano. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing and developing relationships with a broad portfolio of global banks, ensuring efficient and sustainable funding for the company's financial needs.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and develop relationships with a portfolio of national and international banks, acting as the primary point of contact for credit, compliance, and operational inquiries.
Support the structuring of trade finance solutions, contributing to the development of alternative financing instruments and tailored transaction structures.
Collaborate in coordinating and monitoring various financing arrangements, including borrowing base facilities, uncommitted bilateral lines, syndicated loans, prepayment transactions, pre-export agreements, and factoring/securitization programs.
Assist in overseeing and documenting borrowing base audits and work closely with finance teams during review processes.
Liaise with traders and management to structure and allocate transactions across available facilities, ensuring proper risk diversification and efficient capital usage.
Contribute to ongoing analysis of financing needs and existing facility structures, with the aim of optimizing the organization's overall funding mix.
Prepare periodic reports for senior management on facility utilization, bank exposure, and key financial risks.
Monitor daily cash flows, supporting liquidity management to meet both short- and long-term obligations.
Manage the execution, recording, and reconciliation of FX transactions, while monitoring daily FX positions and exposures.
Support the preparation and presentation of treasury reports, budgets, financial documents, and strategic analyses for management.
Requirements
Academic background at master's degree level, preferably in international finance or corporate finance.
Strong financial analysis skills and the ability to translate complex financial needs into concrete and achievable objectives.
Proven experience in international trade finance, with solid knowledge of banking products, credit processes, compliance, and structured finance instruments.
Proactive and highly motivated approach, with the ability to take initiative, identify challenges, and implement effective analytical solutions.
Excellent communication skills and a strong collaborative spirit, with commitment to team objectives and shared goals.
Qualifications
Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
2?3 years of experience in corporate finance or structured trade finance.
Demonstrated negotiation and relationship management skills with international banks.
Fluency in English; knowledge of German, Italian, or French is an advantage.
Solid financial modelling skills; familiarity with treasury or ERP systems is considered a plus.
