Plant Information Engineer (d/f/m)

We are looking for an engaged and qualified PI Engineer (d/f/m) to join our Engineering & Digitalization team in Kaiseraugst. In this role, you will act as a key interface between production, pharma engineering, and IT/OT. You will play a vital role in actively shaping our production site's digital landscape by managing existing systems and building future-proof data structures in a modern, highly autonomous, and GMP-regulated environment.

 

General Information

• Start Date: 01.11.2026 (Latest possible start date: 01.02.2027)

• Duration: Permanent position (Unbefristet)

• Workplace: Kaiseraugst

• Workload: 80–100%

• Home Office: Hybrid working options (approx. 80% on-site presence required)

• Travel: Minimal travel required (1–2 weeks per year, e.g., for Factory Acceptance Testing / FAT at supplier sites)
  
   

Tasks & Responsibilities

• System Architecture & Data Modeling: Take ownership of connecting automation systems to AVEVA PI and modeling data within PI AF. Configure interfaces, maintain adjacent components (PI Vision, PI DAS), and ensure continuous lifecycle maintenance.

• Solution Design: Collaborate with internal business partners to analyze requirements for the PI system and design/implement optimal, GMP-compliant solutions.

• Project Engineering: Lead and execute engineering projects with a strong focus on the PI-Historian—from initial technical specifications through to operational handover.

• Operations & System Support: Jointly ensure system administration and smooth operations within the team, including troubleshooting, root-cause analyses, and deviation handling.

• Compliance & Quality: Manage change control processes as well as qualification and validation activities according to industry standards and regulatory guidelines.

• Knowledge Transfer & Inspection Support: Provide technical support and training to internal clients, while supporting audit and authority inspection activities when required.
  
   

Qualifications & Requirements (Must-Haves)

• Education: Degree (Bachelor's/Master's) or professional background/apprenticeship in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, Automation engineering or a closely related technical field.

• AVEVA PI Expertise: Proven expertise in AVEVA PI and its related infrastructure components (DA, AF, DAS), alongside demonstrated experience connecting automation systems and managing those interfaces across the entire system lifecycle.

• IT/OT Architecture: Broad understanding of network architecture, technology, and system integration within an industrial/manufacturing environment.

• Professional Experience: Multiple years of hands-on practice as a System Engineer with a strong track record in project engineering, ideally gained within a GMP-regulated industry.

• Industry Know-How: Sound technical understanding of automated pharmaceutical production processes.

• Language Skills: Professional fluency in German (written and spoken) is required; good command of English is required.
  
   

Desirable Skills (Nice-to-Haves)

• Database Skills: Practical experience and working knowledge with SQL databases is a strong advantage.

• Inspection & Validation Experience: Prior involvement in formal regulatory inspections or qualification/validation protocols for digital plant infrastructure.
