The Swiss canton with the most expensive cars has been revealed, and the winner is likely no surprise to long-term residents of the alpine nation. According to new data from the insurance firm AXA, Canton Zug is home to the most expensive and newest automobiles in all of Switzerland.

Average vehicle value in Zug is 63.000 Swiss francs

According to data collected by AXA in 2022, which analysed the price of bought and leased vehicles that are registered in each area of Switzerland, the average price of a car in Zug is 63.000 Swiss francs, more than 30 percent more than the national average of 47.000. This makes the canton home to the most expensive cars in Switzerland, followed by Canton Schwyz and Appenzell Innerrhoden.

The cantons of Graubünden, Basel-Stadt, Zurich, Nidwalden, Basel-Land, Valais, Aargau and Obwalden also have average car values above the national average. By contrast, the cheapest cars can be found in Neuchâtel and Jura, with the average car value in these areas being significantly lower at 42.000 Swiss francs.

Zug is also home to the newest cars in Switzerland

Not only is Zug home to the most expensive cars, but it is also home to the newest cars. Across the nation, the average age of cars is 9,9 years old. In Zug, this falls to just 8,9 years.

Zug is known as the home of many large international companies that pay high salaries and significantly lower taxes when compared with other cantons, therefore making the one of the wealthiest areas in the country according to numerous indicators. This wealth is reflected by the ability of many residents to purchase expensive and new vehicles to drive around the region.
