From Geneva to Vaud, Zurich to Basel, Gault&Millau has reviewed 870 restaurants across Switzerland and awarded eight a top-score rating, recognising them as some of the best places to experience all that Swiss gastronomy has to offer.

870 Swiss restaurants reviewed and rated

Gault&Millau is often described as Switzerland's most influential and well-known guide to the country's best restaurants. The Swiss gastronomy expert reviewed and rated a total of 870 restaurants across the country to compile its guide for 2027.

Restaurants are compared on characteristics such as service, value, quality and creativity, then awarded a score out of 20.

When it comes to which part of Switzerland is home to the most top-rated restaurants, cantons Graubünden and Basel-Stadt “are neck and neck”, according to Blick, with each hosting two top-rated restaurants.

The Gault&Millau Guide for 2027 also featured “a first”, with Dominik Hartmann from Restaurant Magdalena in Rickenbach, Schwyz, being the first vegetarian chef to be crowned “Chef of the Year”.

8 Swiss restaurants awarded top rating

Gault&Millau awarded eight restaurants the top score of 19 points. The following restaurants, along with their head chefs, now take the title of Switzerland’s best restaurants:
