Switzerland rated by students as one of the best countries for university

A worldwide student survey has ranked Switzerland as the sixth-best country in the world for higher education. The country ranked as the third-best when it came to the quality of education, but was derided for its extremely high living costs.

Students rank Switzerland as sixth-best country for studying

A study conducted last year by student review site The Campus Advisor asked 17.824 students from all over the world to consider the countries they received their degrees in. Students were asked to give a one to five rating in six different categories: Quality of Education, Cost of Living as a Student, Graduate Career Prospects, Student Diversity, Arts and Culture and Social Life.

The scores in each category were then used to determine the top 20 countries for higher education in 2022. Overall, Switzerland ranked as the sixth-best country in the world for higher education, scoring a respectable 4,37 out of five. Zurich was particularly beloved by students, with the city and its university (ETH Zurich) being voted the best student city and university in Switzerland for 2022.

Swiss universities boast best student diversity in the world

Switzerland scored highly across all six categories, but received its highest score in the Student Diversity (4,85) category, the highest score out of all countries in this category. Switzerland also scored highly in Quality of Education (4,74), in which it ranked as the third-best country. The country was only brought down by its Cost of Living score, in which it received just 2,98.

The alpine nation was only beaten by the US, the UK, Australia, Germany and Ireland in the rankings, beating out a number of countries famous for their universities, including Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands and Japan.
