Research-IT/Forschungsinformatiker*in 50% - 80%

Main Duties:
- Working closely with the PRC team, and Core-IT to identify, implement and supervise innovative solutions to support all research activities at PRC
- Bridging technical IT and academic research fields, by understanding the needs and concerns of researchers, administrative and legal support staff, and ability to meet their requirements
- Planning the implementation of new or changed requirements with ICT and external suppliers, to ensure that the quality of the implementation is adequate, and that documentation is up to date
- Provide support for research information technologies relating to large data, such as high-performance computing (HPC)
- Assist students, researchers and staff members in research application development and data analysis tools
- Engage in the Clinical Data Warehouses establishment at the UKBB, in collaboration with the Digitalisierung & ICT (D&ICT) team at USB
- Interact with internal stakeholders on EMR system in use at UKBB and the external company developing it
- Guide teams to capture data using methods such as Electronic Data Capture, for example in ODK and REDCap
- Update new technology developments and comply with research data management associated regulatory issues
- Liaising and networking with the University of Basel: sciCore (BioMedIT), USB, DKF and, as well as with other Research-IT collaborators in the region (Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN))
Qualifications and Skills:Essential:
- Bachelor or Master degree with relevant experience in the field of data science, data management and the development of databases with EDC systems (REDCap, ODK)
- Experience with Linux operating system
- Experience on Web Application Deployment Process (deployment, testing and administration of Apache Web Server)
- Demonstrated understanding of issues about data confidentiality/security/privacy
- Excellent communication skills, and the ability to implement client requirements in a goal-oriented and sustainable fashion in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
- Kledge of Data Warehousing concepts, ETL processes and tools, Database models
- Experience with SQL (PostgreSQL and MySQL preferred) and SQL JSON functions
- Demonstrable time management skills/ability to prioritise workload
- Ability to work with people from different backgrounds
Desirable:
- Experience in handling clinical research data and the Swiss regulatory framework around data protection and information governance
- Experience in handling data within a health research setting
- Experience and kledge of python, R programming
- Experience with Data visualization tools (e.g. PowerBI, Rshiny)
- od written and spoken German as well as English skills
- Experience with project management as it relates to data management
