Illuminarium Zurich
Get ready for an immersive outdoor light show in the heart of Zurich this winter!
Illuminarium takes place in the courtyard of the Landesmuseum in Zurich with magical coloured lights and projections to let your imagination run wild. Some of the dates of this event overlap with the renowned Zurich Christmas Markets, so if you're around Zurich during that time, then you'll be spoiled for choice of festive things to see and do!
Zurich is filled with colour and lights
Featuring breathtaking light shows in the courtyard, Illuminarium welcomes crowds of people each year, leaving its own individual mark on the city. Entrance to the courtyard is free, and there are various ticket prices for the shows.

Illuminated buildings and more
The handsome museum buildings are impressively lit up during Illuminarium, with light installations, lasers, videos and 3D projections. Both national and international artists create installations and light shows, which convey a story. It's a great event to visit at this time of year, whether you're looking for somewhere to go before a night on the town with your friends, or if you're a family looking for something fun to do with the kids.
There are two different visual events for which you can book tickets in designated time slots. The first is Yuki's Musical Christmas, which takes place every 45 minutes from 5pm to 7.15pm. This concert will immerse you in music, art and the spirit of Christmas.
The Digital Art Show, which takes place every 30 minutes from 8pm to 9.30pm, is Odyssey in Space, and this immersive show follows two astronauts, drifting apart in the cosmos. The strange and unusual story is synchronised to music by Aphex Twin, the Doors, Pink Floyd, and the Weeknd, with perfectly matched video mapping projections, lasers, and a disco ball installation.

Food, drinks and music at Illuminarium
In the front area of the inner courtyard, in which entry is free to all visitors from 5pm to 11pm, guests can enjoy great food. Before, after and during the light shows visitors can warm up no matter the weather, and immerse themselves in the world of illumination to the wintry beats of the DJs.
The offerings in the inner courtyard of the museum are complete with a restaurant with space for up to 300 people. In the food corner, treat yourself to candy floss, waffles, crêpes, churros, "torch skewers", hamburgers, curries and countless other goodies! You can even book a cosy table for enjoying some traditional Swiss fondue.
