Fribourg International Film Festival
The 37th edition of the Fribourg International Film Festival will be taking place from March 17 to March 26, 2023.
A diverse festival in Canton Fribourg
This event takes place annually in Fribourg, a medieval old city in western Switzerland. The aim of the festival is to promote quality international films and to contribute to the cultural diversity of Switzerland, as well as the rest of Europe. The two main competitions that take place at the festival are for long international films and short international films.
Every year, twelve new productions are displayed from Asia, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe, chosen for their ability to captivate their audience and showcase film innovation. There is no limitation on the genre of the film, and so, the only criteria is its quality. Filmmakers will travel to Fribourg to defend their films in person and compete for prizes that are worth a total amount of 70.000 Swiss Francs.
For the short international films, all the directors are invited to Fribourg to present their work. This competition is designed to support the next big names in the industry, as well offering viewers a broader look at the new wave of talent.
The prize for the best short film is 7.500 Swiss Francs, and a jury consisting of film students from the Reseau Cinema CH will award an additional 3.000 Swiss Francs.
Bon Appetit
