Super-cheap tickets between Switzerland and Germany offered in new DB promotion

Super-cheap tickets between Switzerland and Germany offered in new DB promotion

Between June 6 and 9, 2024, Germany’s national rail company Deutsche Bahn will be offering 500.000 train tickets at a dramatically discounted price. Public transport services between Switzerland and the federal republic are also included in the special offer.

Deutsche Bahn offers cut-price tickets for Germany-Switzerland services

To commemorate the European elections in 2024, long-distance train provider Deutsche Bahn will be offering half a million cut-price tickets for journeys between Germany and the rest of Europe.

From June 6 to 9, passengers can buy reduced-price tickets for trains between the federal republic and 16 other European countries; Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Croatia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Slovakia, Czechia, Ukraine and Hungary.

Tickets are available for as little as 19,90 euros with the company’s Super Sparpreis Europa ticket until midnight on June 9. This means that travellers from Swiss cities will be able to visit Germany for a fraction of the price offered by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB).

How can travellers from Switzerland get the cheap Deutsche Bahn tickets?

However, those hoping for an adventure in our northern neighbour will have to wait until the leaves turn brown in order to benefit: Deutsche Bahn confirmed that only journeys scheduled from September 2, 2024, will be part of the deal. The discount will apply to journeys between September 2024 and February 2025.

However, it is important to bear in mind that because of the timetable changes at Swiss Federal Railways and Deutsche Bahn, along with the fact that you can only book train tickets between Switzerland and Germany a maximum of six months in advance, the super cheap tickets will likely only be bookable to and from the alpine nation between September and December 9, 2024, at the latest.

Additionally, since the Europa deal applies to Super Sparpreis tickets, Deutsche Bahn’s cheapest ticket option, once they have booked passengers cannot change their journey or refund their ticket should they decide to cancel their trip. For more information, check out the Deutsche Bahn website.
