Key DeliverablesWithin the framework of the objectives defined by the Sales Director:The Bid Manager is responsible for creating and overseeing a bid – a detailed, costed, persuasive proposal – on behalf of the organization to gain a business contract or offer of work from another.Key Responsibilities The Bid Manager is not a stand-alone position; however, it involves undertaking certain tasks of the bidding process / tender phase:

  • Together with the Sales Manager, define the most appropriate strategy to win a bid (based on Satys’ unique selling points and clients’ specific requirements),
  • Be the technical link/expert with the customer during tender phase (The salesperson manages the sale price / negotiation part),
  • Assess and address the technical and commercial risks and opportunities of each tender,
  • Prepare and manage internal milestones and meetings during the tender phase (From Initial Offer Review -go / no-go- to Final Offer Review -BAFO-)
  • Be responsible and complete all internal documents necessary to evaluate the offer (bill of materials, cost breakdown, project schedule…) in line with engineering and finance departments directives and conclusions of each tender reviews.
  • Be responsible and write the technical and commercial proposal, it includes:
    • Technical definition of the product,
    • Clause-by-clause to customer specifications,
    • Pricing and commercial terms.
    • Together with the Sales Manager, answer to clients’ and other stakeholders’ queries before, during and after the bid has been submitted,
    • Make sure deadlines are met,
    • Once business is awarded, brief and transfer all required information to the Team that will carry out the project.
    • Integrate all required elements at tender phase in SAP.
  • Work with all departments and clients to clarify and obtain the inputs required to answer the tender in a timely manner,
  • Obtain validation/commitment of all departments in connection with the offer (cost, deliverables, schedule…),
  • Together with the Sales Manager, participate and expose all required data during Tender Reviews with management,

For the sake of clarity, depending on complexity and specific requirement of the tender, the Bid Manager will oversee a transversal team that includes all resources to consolidate the offer:

  • Engineering department for the technical description and the bill of material of the product (concepts, 3D models, raw materials, components, etc.),
  • Methods-Industrialization department to assess the labor cost,
  • Procurement department during negotiation with subcontractors/suppliers involved at tender phase (co-development, consultation…),
  • Other departments (Quality documents, logistics clause-by-clause responses, capacity grids, etc.).

Candidate Profile

  • Extensive bid writing experience,
  • Experience in railway systems solutions (interior design, toilets, lavatories, galleys, etc.),
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in German and English. Kledge of Spanish and/or French would be a plus.
  • Creative and innovative thinking,
  • Problem-solving skills,
  • Relationship-building and influencing skills,
  • An interest in the railway sector (industry trends, regulations, and legislation…),
  • Customer oriented,
  • Teamworking skills,
  • Strong aptitudes to succeed and thrive in a demanding environment,
  • Experience on SAP would be a plus,
  • Excellent kledge in Excel and other Office applications.
